Get to know the GARDENA sprinkler range
Winter is peak irrigation season in Zimbabwean homes. Most gardeners or homeowners use hoses and basic sprays to water their plants and lawn, with some even spending money on a pyramid spray or pulse sprinkler. But did you know that there are many other choices of sprinklers and sprays available in the GARDENA range that could be more effective and help you save water simultaneously?
Even in winter, sunshine is abundant, which increases the rate of evaporation. Water is a very limited resource in Zim, so conserving it is our absolute priority. Regular watering during this cooler time of year keeps your lawn’s root systems strong and well-nourished, preparing them for the spring growth spurt. Winter watering also helps reduce stress caused by dormancy and guarantees a speedier, healthier recovery for plants and grass come September.
For any garden enthusiast, buying high-quality irrigation products is a wise long-term investment rather than a luxury. Inconsistent coverage, ineffective spray patterns, and early breakages are all consequences of using cheap, unreliable watering equipment. By purchasing a sprinkler from reliable manufacturers like GARDENA, which are covered by multi-year warranties, you can relax knowing that your garden is watered precisely in winter.
Our sprinkler and spray range
Cutting Edge offers a wide range of GARDENA sprinklers and sprays that have been created after years of research and development (R&D) by the Germans. Let’s dive into each of these products:

1. Classic Water Sprayer – This is a common tool for handheld watering. It should only be used for potted plants and small flower beds. It provides a gentle spray with a water flow adjustment to increase or decrease the volume of water coming out of the spray head. The trigger is lockable, which keeps your hands from becoming tired from constant use.

2. Pyramid Sprinkler – This is possibly the most common irrigation product in Zimbabwean homes. It’s a fantastic option for compact, circular spaces, with an 8-meter spray diameter and a 50-square-meter coverage area. This portable sprinkler offers a soft, full-circle watering pattern for plants and smaller areas. The base can be pegged into the ground, although most people prefer not to, as it allows them to move the spray to a different area more easily.

3. Sprinkler Fox – This spray is similar to the Pyramid Sprinkler but covers double the area. It produces a fine, even mist with a maximum coverage of 100 square meters and a spray diameter of up to 11 meters. Its 360° irrigation sector guarantees thorough coverage without creating puddles on your lawn. The integrated spike on the bottom of the spray allows you to stick it into the ground easily.

4. Six Pattern Boogie – This is the “all-rounder” among pattern sprinklers for maximum adaptability on small to medium lawns. It can cover up to 100 square meters with six different spray patterns: circle, semicircle, square, rectangle, ellipse, and jet. Users can simply dial the spray head to precisely adjust the watering to suit different garden shapes and sizes.

5. Sprinkler hose – This product works well for watering flower beds, vegetable gardens and lawn borders in a straight line. It’s essentially a flat hose with holes that allows you to water in a rectangular pattern. The hose creates a fine mist that covers confined spaces and delicate plants. This hose comes with a 10-year warranty.

6. Oscillating Sprinkler – This product is great for medium-sized lawns and offers consistent and accurate watering with a 14m width. The range is adjustable thanks to integrated sliders, allowing you to reach between 8m and 18m in length. This gives you a maximum coverage of 250 square meters.

7. Pulse Sprinkler – Another common household irrigation product, this tool is suited to larger areas that need a considerable throw distance. With an adjustable spray range of up to 25m and the ability to cover irrigation sectors between 25° and 360°, the Pulse Sprinkler can cover an area of up to 490 square meters. An integrated spike allows you to peg the sprinkler into the ground with a robust footplate.

8. Micro-Drip-System (MDS) – For the highest level of automation and water efficiency, the MDS range is revolutionary. It’s fully customisable but also available in a 40m2 starter kit, which is perfect for flowerbeds, vegetable gardens, herb gardens and potted plants. The drippers precisely deliver water to the plant roots, reducing evaporation and waste. Or, you can opt for microjet sprays that emit a fine mist over your plants.

9. Pop-up Sprinklers – Lastly, for a hidden but incredibly effective irrigation option, GARDENA Pop-Up Sprinklers can be installed around your house. We offer three types (MD 40, MD 80, and MD 180), which essentially cover 40m2, 80m2 and 180m2 respectively. These sprinklers are buried in the lawn and pop up when the tap is opened, and discreetly retract into the lawn when the tap is closed.
Saving water with GARDENA
The secret to conserving water, saving money and being environmentally conscious is to use these GARDENA products in the right setting. Using the wrong spray for your garden size leads to water waste. Similarly, irrigating on paved areas and walls is not ideal, so using the proper sprinkler with the precise coverage and sector pattern will help you minimise water use.
You can also schedule irrigation during ideal periods, like early morning or late evening, when temperatures are lower and evaporation is at its lowest. GARDENA water timers and smart control systems give you this ability, even turning taps off automatically so you don’t have to keep track of time when watering your lawn.
Even during Zimbabwe’s dry spells, you can ensure that every drop of water helps create a more vibrant, healthy garden by carefully positioning and regulating your sprinklers. Here are some quick tips for saving water during irrigation:
- Buy a smart water meter (GARDENA AquaCount) to track your water usage and spot leaks in hoses.
- Buy a manual tap timer to switch off your tap automatically after a certain period.
- Water just before sunrise or just after sunset to allow most of the water to reach the roots before evaporating.
- Modernise your irrigation tools and buy the correct sprinklers for your garden’s shape and size.
- Buy high-quality hosepipes for maximum durability and to prevent holes and leaks. GARDENA hoses have a 20-year warranty.
- Ensure tap and hose connectors fit properly and do not leak.
- Use water stop connectors to prevent the flow of water if no spray or sprinkler is connected to the end of your hose.
